Meet your neighbor, Lisa.

Name:

Dr. Lisa Whitty Bradley

Hometown:

Brooklyn, NY

About Lisa

I am a wife, mother, author, physician and current resident of Berwyn, IL. My husband and I settled on Berwyn because it was the place that felt most like home. He is from Detroit and I am from the Bronx, New York. We have a lovely daughter and a highly spirited dog named, Rudolph. I love to hang outside and read, write, work in the yard and hang out with family and friends. Berwyn is a great place to make new memories and enjoy the best that Illinois has to offer.

The Business Side:

I am a woman of many talents. As a Physician, I have a hybrid medical practice that allows me to see patients and operate a couple days per week. This practice was created to provide a healthy work environment for myself and my family after I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2013. While many would and have felt defeated after such a diagnosis, I decided to do the opposite. While still focusing on my health, I make sure to strive to be the best and empower others through my medical practice, Social Media Platform and my writing. Separately, I am the founder of a Social Media Think Tank called, Chick’s with MD’s. I use my social media platform to educate folks on common medical concerns and publish my medical and fiction-based projects. Last, but not least, I am an author. I just published my first book named, A Human Story under my pseudonym, Stella Jones. Run or walk on over to pick up a copy from the Berwyn Public Library! What inspires you?

Adversity and challenges inspire me. I am actually motivated when someone tells me ‘No’, ‘You can’t’ or ‘You won’t’.  I love a challenge!

Tell us something that people might not know about you.

I love CHERRYSTONE CLAMS!!  I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and loved going down to Sheepshead Bay to get clams on the half shell.  Best thing ever!!!!

Why Berwyn?

Great neighborhood and the people are inviting and warm. I love the schools. There is a good support network and comradery. Proximity to the city has been important for my career. I like to have access to Chicago and Northwest Indiana. You can jump on most major expressways from Berwyn. I enjoy walking over to the Depot District and grabbing dinner with my family or enjoy meeting up with friends from the neighborhood. My go-to places tend to be Capri Due for a hearty meal or just a little further up the street, there’s Lavergne’s Tavern. Lavergne’s has a great menu and an inviting patio. Another reason I like taking a walk along Windsor Ave is that I can see the  Chicago skyline in the distance.

What is something that you’re NOT good at?

Hiding my emotions.  I would be horrible as a poker player!  Whatever is on my mind comes across in my expression.  So, if I am smiling, that is my truest expression and emotion.

What is your fondest memory?

Going to the beach and having BBQs with my family and friends growing up, those were the best times! Now my family and I are creating those same memories in Berwyn!

What is something new you learned or experienced?

Money is an illusion of success.  Success, in my opinion, comes from sharing what you have learned and the talent you have acquired, with others. The more you educate and empower the world around you, the better off we all become.

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

A comedy without a doubt!!!  I love to laugh, even at the things that are painful.  My favorite memories involve when there have been challenges and good times, and all those events have involved humor, in one way, shape, or form.

What would your perfect room look like?

Lots of sunshine, photos of family, art-work, plants, and a view of the beautiful world outside. I see this every morning when I walk into the front room of our home. I love the amount of space, light, and comfort that our home has to offer.
