Walgreens, The Skin Care Foundation Bring Destination: Healthy Skin Mobile RV to Brookfield Zoo
Walgreens and The Skin Cancer Foundation Partner to Offer Free, Full-Body Skin Cancer Screenings For Area Residents
Destination: Healthy Skin, a nationwide tour to educate consumers about the importance of effective sun protection, early detection, and reduce the incidence of the world’s most common cancer, is coming to Chicagoland.
On July 29 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Walgreens pharmacists, beauty consultants, and trained dermatologists from The Skin Cancer Foundation will provide education on sun protection, including the effects of medication on sun sensitivity; distribute sunscreen samples; offer treatment recommendations; discuss best practices and beauty products to stay sun-safe; and provide free, private, full-body skin assessments in just 10 minutes to visitors at Brookfield Zoo.
According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, and diagnoses continues to rise. It’s estimated that 2,980 new cases of melanoma, one of the most dangerous forms of skin cancer, will be diagnosed in Chicago in 2018, and one in five Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70.
When skin cancer is identified, and removed early, there is a higher probability of a cure.
