New Berwyn studio will help capture life’s moments

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMost new mobile devices from tablets to smartphones come equipped with a camera. Nearly everyone can snap a shot or shoot a quick video and share it digitally. Social media is a testament to this trend as it is flooded with visuals from restaurants, outings and beyond. Despite the changing media landscape, the professional still has an important time and place in our lives. David Hernandez founded Still & Motion Media, LLC to fulfill his life’s dream of preserving memories for his clients. A grand opening celebration was hosted at the studio located at 6823 W Stanley Ave in partnership with the City of Berwyn and the Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) on May 30.

Photographs are time capsules that depict those people and things that are important to us. They are a record of our memories and a legacy that can be shared for years to come. For this reason it is no surprise that many people will choose to safeguard photo albums before evacuating away from natural disasters or fires. Photographers not only document history but also maintain our deep connections with and nostalgia for our memories. Photographers also have training that allows their work to expand past the “automatic” setting on a camera in order to balance light and motion, to artistically focus on what is important, and to immortalize a moment with each shot.

David Hernandez received his first camera, a 35 mm, from his father. From the first “clicks” he began to dream about the people and places he could photograph. Eventually, he was professionally trained at Columbia College Chicago and has gained extensive experience with photography and videography, specializing in weddings, engagements, cotillions, concerts, sports, events, fashion, businesses and landscapes. David takes great care to make a connection with his clients and works one-on-one to ensure that the client’s needs are met. He consults and completes all media work, never subcontracting work to other studios or freelancers, and takes care not to double book events on the same day.

Still & Motion Studio sets itself apart from larger operations because of David’s personal attention to each client. David stated, “It’s important that you are comfortable with me. I will treat you like a friend or family member because I want to be sure that my vision helps you to capture your dreams and special moments.”

The build-out for Still & Motion’s new studio space in Berwyn’s Depot District was a family enterprise, completed with the help of brothers and uncles. The studio is brightly lit and welcoming, offering clients a comfortable and professional setting to discuss their needs and to see David’s gallery.  Mayor Robert J. Lovero observed, “The studio turned out beautifully and we’re happy to have you bring your artistic services to Berwyn.” Anthony Griffin, BDC Executive Director, concluded, “This location is a great corner in the Depot District. We welcome you and thank you for opening your business in Berwyn.”
