Berwyn’s Best Eggs 2017
The Berwyn Development Corporation’s (BDC) Berwyn’s Best competition began in mid-May and was fixed on finding the best local egg dish. Thirteen establishments with egg dishes on their regular menus competed to make it into the Top 5 Egg-Whisking Establishments. These five local haunts identified their favorite egg dish for the second round of voting, and now the vote is in! The winner is the Avocado Toast from Lavergne’s Tavern.
Owner Jerry Hernandez and Chef Mark reacted to the award saying, “We feel truly honored for the opportunity to showcase what we have to offer. “Fresh organic ingredients truly highlight the simplicity of the dish. Our avocado toast has been a fan favorite ever since we started offering our weekend brunch. We hope everyone will come out and try the dish alongside our other brunch offerings!”
The Top 5 Egg-Whisking Establishments are:
SKIRT STEAK SKILLET: This egg dish is made with 2 eggs any style, your choice of cheese, sautéed mushrooms, green peppers and onions on a bed of homemade hash-browns and a generous serving of skirt steak.
AVOCADO TOAST: This egg dish is made with 2 sunny side eggs, avocado, tomato, goat cheese and baby green salad on an English muffin. Add cold salmon for an extra $5.
BREAKFAST BURRITO: This egg dish is made with chorizo, eggs, mozzarella, served with a side of salsa and pico de gallo.
FARMERS MARKET OMELETTE: This egg dish is made with 2 large eggs, fresh spinach, mushrooms, peppers and topped with cheddar cheese and pico de gallo. Served with toast and potatoes.
Plus any size coffee or tea: $6.95
HUEVOS RANCHEROS: This egg dish is made with a tortilla base, 3 eggs on top (over-easy or over-hard), salsa ranchera and your choice of meat or veggies. Served with a side of Mexican potatoes and beans.
