McDONALD’S MODERNIZES CERMAK PLAZA LOCATION
McDonald’s restaurant, 7181 W. Cermak Berwyn, will celebrate its grand opening from May 5th – May 31st with special promotions and community activities. Some of the promotions include 2 for $4 Egg McMuffin, $4 McGriddle Extra Value Meal, $1 Medium Iced/Hot coffee, and $4 Daily Double Extra Value Meal. The restaurant opened its doors at 5am on May 5th. The first 100 customers received a coupon for Free Big Mac or Egg McMuffin weekly for 1 year. Later that day, the restaurant hosted a Cinco de Mayo event with live Mariachis, raffles, face painting and balloon artist.
“McDonald’s is changing with the times to give our customers a Welcome Home experience that is more inviting,” said Charles Gonsowski, the restaurant’s Operations Manager. “We believe customers deserve freshly prepared, quality food served in an environment that is modern, dynamic, enjoyable, and feels like your home. We owe the success of this business to our customers. And I consider it a privilege to serve customers quality food in a clean and welcoming environment.”
Mayor Robert J. Lovero commented, “Welcome back to the neighborhood, we’re glad to have you back. It’s a beautiful store and I’m sure you will have great success.”
Jousef Mondragon, Berwyn Development Corporation Board President, continued, “I’d like to thank the BDC staff and Board of Directors for their work behind the scenes in helping make this happen. We want to welcome you and thank you for being part of our family.”

Highlights of the redesigned restaurant include: a new exterior, landscaping that compliments the community and a double-lane drive-thru with pull forward window. Inside, customers will enjoy comfortable lighting, contemporary color schemes that reflect the personality of the brand, and new furniture with natural finishes. Technological enhancements include digital menu boards and new mobile payment options at the register.
The McDonald’s employees are excited about the changes and working in a more modern place. Demeita Crooks, the operations supervisor, said “We hope that people in the community enjoy all of the changes. This restaurant will be a great place to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend or relative. We hope to make them feel at home.”
This year, McDonald’s plans to continue the modernization of its restaurants and its Welcome Home attribute. McDonald’s is using technology to transform the customer experience and provide customers with great offers every week. Customers can take advantage of the offers by downloading the McDonald’s Mobile app. The app also includes a restaurant locator and nutritional information.
