New tapas restaurant brightens the Depot District

With the launch of Sebastiano’s, restaurateurs Sebastian and Katrina Maniscalo have partnered with Chef Able Arellano to serve a variety of Mediterranean inspired tapas and pizzas in a warm and contemporary setting. Diners are can take delight in a full menu of flavorful tapas, salads, entrees, pastas and pizzas. Situated adjacent to Olive or Twist Martini Bar, Sebastiano’s, 6908 W Windsor Ave, has brought an artful menu inspired by the flavors of Italy and the Basque country of Spain to Berwyn’s Depot District. In partnership with the City of Berwyn and Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC), Sebastiano’s held a grand opening celebration on Aug 20.

The Sebastiano’s partnership brings over 52 years of restaurant experience and an adventurous spirit to the table. The best part of the tapas experience is the fun of sharing dishes with friends and family and having the chance to sample a variety of flavors. According to Sebastian, “The variety and simplicity can please everyone regardless of their palates.” For the unaccustomed, tapas are a style of food known for hot and cold small plates including items such as Asparagus & Prosciutto, Arancini and Grilled Calamari among a host of others. These small plates are often shared by the table and combined into a full meal alive with a collection of tastes and great conversation. Other favorites include the Neapolitan Pizzas that are known for their crispy crusts and fresh, simple ingredients. If looking for full plates, the restaurant has a mix of steaks, chicken and fish entrees. Overall, Sebastiano’s offers a sophisticated but casual dining experience. The restaurant has an intimate dining area and an option for al fresco dining and provides carry out, delivery and catering services. Neighboring Olive or Twist Martini Bar provides a full bar with a cocktail menu, craft brews and wine.

Mayor Robert Lovero remarked, “It’s exciting to have a new concept like tapas in the Depot District, and I’ve heard many people complimenting the restaurant already. I welcome you to the neighborhood and wish you success.” Mal Montoya, BDC Board President, followed, “Sebastiano’s is a beautiful restaurant and a great contribution to our Depot District, which continues to brighten with nightlife options.”
